Ben Sasse does a $1 million dance to that sweet GOP welfare music
Don't begrudge the "disruptor" his swamp full of free Gator money to do nothing. He needs help to fail forward in this mean old world. Time for Kelli Stargel and Richard Corcoran to get another raise?
Quit school when she was seventeen
Senator on TV calls her welfare queen
Used to be daddy's little girl
Now she needs help in this mean ol' worldIt's welfare music
Watch the baby dance
To the welfare music
Well she ever stand a chance?
Angry fat man on the radio
Wants to keep his taxes way down low
Says there oughta be a law
Angriest man you ever sawWelfare music
Just watch the baby dance
To the welfare music
Well she ever stand a chance?
— “Welfare Music,” John Hiatt, performed by Hardworking Americans
She understands that most of us will never be afforded the grace of failing forward. We will never benefit from the affirmative action of generational wealth.
If we bankrupt a business, or choke in a crisis, we don’t get a second, third, or fourth chance.
If things don’t go our way, we don’t have the luxury of whining or cheating others to get further ahead, we don’t get to change the rules so we always win.
— Michelle Obama, from her DNC speech

Sasse’s “disruptor” grift makes former Lakeland state senator Kelli Stargel’s “job” at Florida Poly paying her $175,000 look rather pedestrian. Time for another raise, maybe?
Stephenson also announced a promotion for Kelli Stargel, the former state senator from Lakeland who joined Florida Poly last year as senior adviser for strategic relationships. Stargel is now associate vice president of strategic relationships.
In that role, Stargel will oversee legislative affairs, local government relations, strategic partnerships and international relationships, Stephenson said in the release. Her salary increases to $175,000.
And then there’s Richard Corcoran, thoroughly tanking New College for libs and jocks and home schoolers alike to rake in:
… $699,000, according to the contract. But he will receive other additional perks, including:
$84,000 housing allowance
$12,000 car allowance
up to $200,000 annual performance incentive
$104,850 in deferred compensation
$200,000 every year that he remains as president until 2026 — an accrued retention payment — plus another $100,000 for two more years.
If any of my fellow Polk Republicans vying for the legislature ever develop an opinion about any of this wasted state money and the total corruption of Florida’s state college and university system, I’ll happily print it — that is if they can get permission from their loser handler Anthony Pedicini.
I wrote my state senator and representative on this when I saw the story this morning. I also asked US Ed Dept whether any of this largess comes from federal funds. I doubt anyone will answer me. You may have more luck.
Looks like we have a lot of DeSantis welfare (our tax dollars) being given away for nothing.
