Billy the very reluctant bioweapon

The Delta variant -- in a reopened America -- puts the unvaccinated at an insane, self-imposed risk because the vaxxed are living life with armor and dragon fire.

My father, mother, and sister are positive with COVID-19. All are fully mRNA vaxxed (Pfizer) — so their COVID symptoms are not severe. Most specifically, their “breakthrough” infections do not have the terrible breathing, oxygen, and pneumonia problems that do most of the COVID killing.

My dad likely caught it on a trip outside the assisted living facility he shares with my mother; and he gave it to her, too, upon his return. Both of them have very serious co-morbidity-type health problems. COVID without vaccine would likely have killed them already. My sister caught it from my dad, even while trying hard to distance from him while attending to him.

I do not know for certain that this is the Delta variant at work. But it is far, far more contagious; and it gets through vaccine shielding from infection much more easily than other coronavirus variants. It does not get easily through vaccine shielding from harm. This is what I understand “the science” to say, as of now, based on my research. My family’s experience has rather confirmed it for me.

99 percent of COVID harm is to the unvaccinated

Because the mRNA vaccines (Moderna and Pfizer) have been so successful, it’s easy to forget that protection from infection is only a happy byproduct of the mRNA protection from harm. My understanding of the mRNAs has always been that they truly turn COVID-19 into “just the flu” — an unpleasant but non-serious sickness. Above all, they keep you out of the hospital.

Nearly all COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. now are in people who weren’t vaccinated, a staggering demonstration of how effective the shots have been and an indication that deaths per day — now down to under 300 — could be practically zero if everyone eligible got the vaccine.

An Associated Press analysis of available government data from May shows that “breakthrough” [like my family’s] infections in fully vaccinated people accounted for fewer than 1,200 of more than 853,000 COVID-19 hospitalizations. That’s about 0.1%.

And only about 150 of the more than 18,000 COVID-19 deaths in May were in fully vaccinated people. That translates to about 0.8%, or five deaths per day on average.

Before Delta began to kick in, the reduction in harm seemed to coincide with preventing spread of previous variants — perhaps because of the relative difficulty of catching the virus without close sustained indoor contact with significant viral lode delivered by symptoms.

Again, this is my current best understanding of “the science.” I am open to correction.

I have been living the last month or so in vax heaven — believing that I was very, very unlikely to get the virus or pass it along. My thinking has now changed; but I remain unworried about my own health.

Enter Delta, the dragon

“The science” currently tells me that Delta is multiples more contagious than the earlier variants — for the vaxxed and unvaxxed alike. (There is always debate on this; so go do your own research.)

Far more communicable Delta is emerging at precisely the same time that people are streaming back into indoor venues of all kinds — from bars to major sports events. I am fully vaxxed (Moderna); and I have been spending more time in those types of places, largely without masks, based on the pre-Delta “science.”

Because of Delta, I expect to start wearing masks more often again in closed spaces (for other people’s protection). But beyond that, I have no plans to change my more open and free vaccine-enabled “normal” lifestyle. I fully expect to contract the Delta variant because of that. I will likely experience it as a mild flu. I can live with that.

Right wing political DeSantis COVID has been trying to coerce people back into “normal” life as viciously as it can for quite a while, especially in Florida. But guess what — you don’t have to try to coerce me anymore. I’m vaxxed; my household and loved ones are vaxxed.

And we vaxxed folks, at least for now, have special armor that protects us from the same flaming dragon breath we carry when Delta infects us. If you’re not vaxxed, you don’t have that protection from the burning harm of my Delta dragon breath. I will “Dracarys” you, unintentionally, with great regret.

Like all my fellow vaxxed, I am a dangerous, reluctant bio weapon against the unvaxxed — just waiting for activation. Indeed, every single vaxxed person in the Delta era is the unintentional biological equivalent of a DeSantis rage car aimed at anti-vax/anti-mask protestors in the street.

The Manatee County massacre

If you think I’m being dramatic about this, take a look at the horrible events in Manatee County just last week.

Note the bold parts.

Manatee County leaders have asked state health officials to investigate whether a more contagious and virulent strain of the coronavirus caused the deaths of two county workers and left three others in the hospital.

The two workers died of COVID-19 within a four day period last week. All five infected employees worked in the county’s information technology department on the seventh floor of the Manatee County Administration Building in downtown Bradenton.

None of the workers who tested positive were vaccinated, said County Administrator Scott Hopes. He said Monday that a sixth county employee has been diagnosed with the coronavirus as well as three workers at Port Manatee…

…Health officials conducted contract tracing and identified the employee in the IT department classified as patient zero, the term for the first person in a group to be infected. They were able to confirm that two vaccinated employees who had contract with infected workers tested negative for the coronavirus.

This doesn’t even necessarily sound like Delta to me because of the spread protection from the vaccine; but who knows? I’ll leave that to gene sequencers. But COVID-19 in all its forms can and will harm and kill you.

No idea what to say

If you try to say all this to Jimmy Nelson’s rage people — or suggest common good policy around it — they’ll scream back through contorted maskless rage mouths:

How dare you suggest I get the conspiracy vaccine to protect myself from the threat you pose to me just by living your normal life like we’ve all been screaming at you to do for 18 months! STOP TRYING TO CONTROL ME!!!! Arrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!! FREEDDDDOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!! Also Critical Race Theory! Whatever that is! INSURRECTION!!!

In the end, no matter how much you despise the idea of sharing a country with whatever you imagine me to be, I truly hope you don’t die.

And I truly hope I don’t kill you.
