Corey Simon chickens out on 3rd grade retention, making "de-regulation" bill a fraud
Ending mass 3rd grade retention was only significant "de-regulation" measure in Simon's bill. Jeb Bush and the forces of the DoE/Jefferson charter scandal pancaked the former FSU lineman.
This will be very short because what follows is the only development that matters in the so-called “de-regulation” bill under consideration by legislators.
Mass third grade retention, along with fraudulent school grades, is what makes Florida into Florida and drives our nation’s worst learning rate, as I’ve explained many times, including here in the Tampa Bay Times. It’s also crucial to selling vouchers to “test refugees” so they can be grifted by fake private schools.
Everything else Corey Simon, Kathleen Passidomo et. al., are selling is a useless platitude designed to pretend they’re doing something about a corrupt, failed state system that basically everybody except Jeb Bush and Ralph Arza hates — and yet persists like a grift zombie.
You and your kids won’t perceive any de-regulation in how the system works on a daily basis. It’s a total nothingburger.
Did you see DeSantis up there saying that Florida education was number 1? Number 1 in what???
There was so much to unpack in that Tampa Bay Times article! Getting rid of nonsectarian requirements for virtual school is the least scary thing.
