DoE "Innovation team" grant theft ring turns on itself, then wreaks havoc on state education workplace after armed home confrontation

I'm not kidding. I worked hard on that headline. If somebody had killed somebody with a trident, DoE's latest unbelievable scandal would come right out of "Anchorman."

Just read the story from Jason Delgado and Florida Politics. I got nothing. Key excerpt, I guess:

Feller was a member of the Department’s Innovation & Implementation (I&I) Team, a four-person team that provides tech training to students and helps educators prepare for computer science certifications. 

Using grant dollars that went unspent while the team was hosting remote trainings amid the pandemic, Feller bought items such as MacBooks, iPads, a laser engraver, Visa gift cards, a DSLR camera, and an Apple Pencil, among other things. The online training programs cost the team significantly less than the in-person training courses, resulting in a surplus of funds.

Feller distributed the items with fellow team members including former I&I Director Katrina Figgett, Instructional Technology Specialist Kenneth Edwards and Grant Specialist Daniel Ring. The trio, the report says, stored much of the equipment in their homes, where they were working at the time.

Then it gets really weird after Ring becomes a sort of whistleblower. You can see for yourself. It’s got guns and workplace confrontations. It escalates quickly. A few obvious questions linger.

• Somebody please tell me who the Innovation and Implementation Team reported to. Was it pre-CRT-revelation, “innovation” chancellor Eric Hall — now the Department of Juvenile Justice secretary? It seems logical that the “Innovation” chancellor would oversee the “Innovation” team; but this is Richard Corcoran’s DoE. So who knows?

• Who is the DoE employee cited here: “According to a Tallahassee Police Department incident report, a DOE employee called the police and asked they remove Ring from the Turlington Building shortly after he arrived.”

• I don’t have the actual investigative report on this. The last time Jason Delgado broke a big DoE story — DoE/Jefferson — there was a much bigger story behind it. I don’t trust anything that comes out of DoE.

• And finally, WTF?
