Grady Judd undermines prosecutors and trolls Polk County citizens by cavorting with the criminal James Dunn's patron
Steve Maxwell personally inflicted James Dunn on Polk. Brian Haas dutifully prosecuted and convicted James Dunn for election crimes. So naturally, Sheriff Bobblehead parties with Maxwell on TV.
Steve Maxwell thinks millions and millions of fellow citizens like me are “Americans in Name Only” (AINOs); plays fanboy to disgraced criminal generals who advocate coups; and personally inflicted convicted felon fraudster and convicted campaign criminal James Dunn on the people of Polk County and their elections in 2022.
State Attorney Brian Haas and lead prosecutor Brad Copley expended great time and effort making James Dunn — and by extension, Steve Maxwell’s group — an object lesson in how not to behave in public life or elections in Polk County.
Maxwell’s gross political group, so toxic now in Polk County that it had to change its name, played a starring role in James Dunn’s recent sentencing hearing. See this report.
Grady embarrasses himself yet again to move merchandise
So naturally, our soft-on-crime Sheriff Grady Judd immediately spit on this good prosecutorial work and gave his bobblehead seal of approval to Maxwell and his gross group. I guess they buy a lot of “moon pie” murder shirts.
I am encouraged by the fact that Maxwell and Grady were both afraid to do this “interview” as the Polk County chapter of whatever Maxwell’s gross club of losers is calling itself today. Instead, they had to blast it out on the Travis County, Texas Facebook page. No links for chickens, boys.
I find that fear telling.
It suggests they understand that I, at least, will enforce the law in Grady Judd’s county — legally, ethically, legally, publicly — to the best of my ability as a citizen. And maybe I can bring some prosecutors along — or, more likely, help them go where they really want to go already with some public cover and moral support.
That fear suggests Grady knows who the real sheriff of public life is in Polk County.
That’s why he’s embarrassing himself with James Dunn’s patron in an entirely different state. And I’m here telling him about it and daring him to comment on his work to undermine the rule of law. For a bobblehead so chatty, he won’t have anything to say in response to this:
But I hope the State Attorney’s Office will.
Make no mistake, Brian: Grady is sending you a dominance message with this stunt extending his protection to Maxwell’s gross losers. Are you just gonna take it? This would be a good chance to show real independence.
Truth and reconciliation: Hannah Petersen edition
If you want another bit of encouragement in what can feel like dark times, consider the peace that former Maxwell employee Hannah Peterson — about whom I have written extremely harsh things — and I are making.
I give all the credit in this to Hannah, who initiated the contact in good faith, and with whom I have genuinely enjoyed burying the hatchet. It is bracing to feel moral combat dissolve into efforts to understand and accommodate each other in a shared society in which all are protected and no one has to submit to anyone else’s whim.
That is always the goal of my work in citizenship. War sucks, even when it is 100 percent necessary.
Anyway, I raise this about Hannah Petersen because she is how I know that Steve Maxwell is personally responsible for inflicting James Dunn on all of us. I had publicly speculated that she was responsible for it. I was wrong.
I reached out to Hannah after learning about this Grady stunt to confirm the Dunn origin story in Polk. Maxwell met Dunn at some conference in Texas and made all the Polk connections, Hannah told me. She gave me permission to share that information and this quote:
Also, Steve was warned several times from his staff not to bring [Dunn] here as we found the criminal stuff from Texas right away and brought it to him. Just cowardly that he would let me fall on the sword and never come out and own it himself.
Hannah said she appreciates the chance to clear her name. I’m happy to do it. She’s earned my respect. It’s hard to seek peace with “enemies.” I thank her for the effort and look forward to working together with her as fellow citizens of a shared society.
If the guy playing Polk County sheriff on TV ever put in that kind of effort in leading his county, we’d all be a lot better off. But he won’t. So I guess I’m as good a sheriff as any in the vaccum.
[Hilarious late update]
A few hours after I published this, the brave CDF published a version that wiped Steve Maxwell from existence. L.O.L. See below:
I removed the comment that was here. You can’t make accusations or describe someone as a criminal on my site in a comment without clear, unambiguous documentation.
CDF reminds me of a cascadingly bad report card
