Happy belated National Lynch Mob Day
I especially send greetings to the MAGA Fluids pretending not to celebrate. I'll definitely help them commemorate it every year.
I’ll delve into the smirking history of lynch mobs getting away with it when the Proud Boys and Oathkeepers and maimers of brave police get their pardons — thanks to the “respectable” MAGA Fluids who made it possible.
But for now, understand this: “respectable” MAGA Fluids have always let American lynch mobs get away with it — or let their freak loose and directly take part in the lynch mob and pretend they didn’t.
That’s the fun of a lynch mob — to get freaky in a violence/murder orgy without consequence because power wants you to. I discussed this in my very first article about the Capitol Lynch Mob.
One key passage:
Let’s be clear: the Trump/Hawley/Cruz etc. Capitol mob no more believed or cared if the presidential election was stolen than lynch mobs believed or cared if the person they were lynching was guilty. It’s the same instinct. Both mobs did what they did because they enjoyed it. They liked it. It was fun. It made them feel good and powerful. This was a feral boat parade that murdered a police officer.
The joy of the mob’s feral power is fundamental to American history and its distribution of formal political and economic power. It has always been part of the American governing instinct. It just never happened inside Congress before.
So here’s what happened on Wednesday: a massive armed white lynch mob — including military and law enforcement people out of uniform — carrying the Confederate battle flag stormed the Capitol. There’s nothing new about that. Nothing. That’s exactly how it’s always happened. Those same people have stormed countless buildings and lives throughout American history. I wrote a book about it.
And then those people get away with it because the weak MAGA Fluids of the whatever day want them to.
In fact, even if every Proud Boy and Oathkeeper and J6 neighbor gets a blanket pardon from their master, the Capitol Lynch Mob will remain the most punished lynch mob in American history. In fact, it’s probably the only lynch mob ever punished at all. Progress? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“I don’t celebrate this day;” however … LOL
Anyway, I checked in of one of favorite MAGA Fluids on Monday.
He never disappoints in finding an excuse to pretend he’s somehow not like them — those icky real MAGAs and their lynch mobs, which aren’t so bad, really, you stupid overreacting libs.
“Happy national lynch mob day!!! I know you’re pretending not to celebrate.”
“I don’t celebrate this day…. nor do I think it’s the worst thing to happen to Americans in the last four years. The increased inflation from the ironically named “inflation reduction act” caused every one of us significantly more harm. But sure, enjoy your suppositions and selective outrage.”
People often confuse my amused contempt for outrage. It’s easier to pretend I’m yelling at them when I’m actually just chuckling as I describe their behavior accurately.
In the real world, inflation plunged from 9 percent to 3.2 percent after the passage of the “ironically-named,” Inflation Reduction Act. This is likely an accident of timing. Inflation likely subsided for the same reason it started — the COVID cycle: relief spending ended, massive money printing to prevent the stock market from crashing and capital assets losing massive value was replaced by interest rate spikes; and supply chain dislocation/gouging ran its course.
Thus, a less self-satisfied person could have made his lynch-mob pardon excuse talking points a bit better. (His previous excuse was trans people. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not sure what changed.) But he wanted to say “ironically-named” because he plays a civically-minded intellectual on social media.
This MAGA Fluid, like most I encounter, is far too lazy in his excuses to even bother to check what he says so confidently. That unearned certainty in wrongness without consequence is exactly what drives a lynch mob, too.
Anyway, take heart my fellow libs and people of conscience: time is rapidly running out on MAGA Fluids (and MAGAs for that matter) to blame us for what they’ve done to themselves and their communities. Laugh at them when they try.
