Matt Gaetz and Scott Franklin do not want to pay the massive bills that Donald Trump and former U.S. Rep. Dennis Ross, R-Lakeland ran up unless they can crash the economy by crippling the government with cuts the public always rejects at the ballot box. They want chaos. They think chaos will help Trump defeat Biden in 2024 and that will deliver them … something. Maybe a bit part in a Trump/Kim Jung Un buddy movie?

As I understand it, Scott Franklin used to fly fighter jets designed to protect the U.S. and South Korea and allied nations generally. Now he’s doing the bidding of dudes who literally lust after the idea of becoming the Kim Jung Uns of America.

You and your country are just a hostage to this weakness, to this inability to draw any moral line anywhere, this incredibly petty bit of extortion. If you don’t like being a hostage, you should call Scott Franklin’s office and tell him to break with his pimp.

I would never, ever pay the Franklin/Gaetz ransom

I’m about to take a two-week break from PE1 for a trip to an undisclosed location.

Perhaps Franklin and Gaetz will destroy the global economy on a whim while I’m gone in a bid to curry favor with the Trump/Un party pair. I hope not.

But I’m probably better positioned to survive it than most of you, whatever your party politics.

And just speaking personally, under no circumstances would I pay this ransom to Scott Franklin and Matt Gaetz. I long ago would have minted the platinum coin or done whatever else was necessary through the 14th amendment to remove the debt limit as Republican hostage for creating chaos and dictator parties it can’t win at the ballot box.

Absent that, I prefer default to begging for my life as a hostage to Scott Franklin and Matt Gaetz. Let’s let it all come tumbling down and see what pressures emerge. I am very tired of fixing the messes of thugs and criminals and hostage takers and dictator-lovers.
