When reporting rape/incest to Grady Judd is a crime ...
We all need the extraordinary courage of Taylor Cadle. Grady could use *any* courage, at all. If he was a "lib," Ron DeSantis would remove him from office over this case.
If our showboat Sheriff Grady Judd was not a weak, cardboard cut-out of a man, he would apologize openly to Taylor Cadle for charging her with a crime because she reported her uncle-turned-adopted father for sexually molesting her in 2016 at age 13.
If Grady Judd was what he pretended to be on TV, he would say the following in public. Note particularly the part in bold.
“Yes, my agency screwed up terribly. The young girl we wronged and harmed and hauled into court was actually telling the truth about her adopted father molesting her. Jerry Hill [or Brian Haas, it’s hard to tell from the date] prosecuted her and sent her right back to her father to be raped again. This time she got her own evidence, proved us wrong, incompetent and brutal.
We’re very very very sorry. We failed her in every way imaginable. Here’s why it won’t happen again. And here’s how a 13-year girl today can get a rape exception to forced birth — both with parental consent and without her parental consent if the parent is the rapist.”
You really have to read and/or view Taylor Cadle’s story to believe it. I just summarized it correctly in a way Grady Judd never will because he just a trash talking moral coward more interested in selling merchandise than protecting women and girls. Key points:
Grady Judd and the State Attorney’s Office sent Taylor right back to her incest/rapist to be incest raped again. This time, entirely on her own, she overcame the gross abuse of incompetent state power to exonerate herself and put her rapist uncle-turned-adoptive father into prison.
If a “lib” had done this, Ron DeSantis would remove him from office.
What an incredible, brave young woman. Read the whole story.
Rather than fall all over themselves to put him on a mailer, pathetic local politicians should demand that Grady (and Brian Haas) publicly account for what their agencies did to a incredibly brave, deeply resourceful, endlessly abused little girl, who is now a woman with a spine of steel.
No wonder it’s impossible to get a rape/incest exception to forced birth
It is almost impossible — and getting harder — for a girl like Taylor Cadle to get a rape exception to forced birth in Florida. Only 11 of the rape abortions on that plunging orange line are clearly exceptions. Story here.
Grady shows you why this chart looks like this.
Long before I ever heard about this case, I called on Grady to publicly explain the Sheriff’s Office protocol for granting a rape/incest exception to forced birth. I asked the same of Lakeland Police.
My article was, of course, met with silence.
But I assure everybody, if Amendment 4 doesn’t get to 60, I’m coming right back to the Lakeland City Commission to push for LPD to publish its protocol. We’re going to talk about Taylor Cadle the same way we’re going to talk about Deborah Dorbert and LRH.
And we’re going to talk about the brutal landscape of fake exceptions until somebody takes some shred of public responsibility for any of this. See article below.
I also sent this note yesterday to the State Attorney’s Office. I, of course, got silence. I’ll follow up with an actual public records request.
I don't know if you're all aware of this terrible case in which Grady Judd's deputies charged a 13 year old girl with lying and your office prosecuted her and a judge sentenced her to probation. Photographic evidence later emerged that her adopted foster father was sexually molesting her, just like she said. He was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
My question: has the SAO officially dropped or withdrawn the case against Taylor Cadle?
Is her "record" expunged? Is there any record certifying that she was wrongly accused?
Thanks.
By the way, Grady Judd is on the ballot Tuesday. You can imagine you’re voting for Taylor Cadle.
I’d be proud, not ashamed, if she was my sheriff.
Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Victims are often treated like the criminal….. especially women and girls, which is why crimes against women and girls often goes unreported.
I was unaware of this story. Thank you for writing this. I am appalled and speechless.
