Good reporting. This is the kind of basic crap the Establishment Republicans are engaged in that the Conservative Caucus is supposed to be fighting. We may not be on speaking terms, but I least I read all sides of the political spectrum.

I'm pretty sure they ARE all the same. I certainly didn't think it was a good idea to use a one term seemingly token Black Congressman in this Chess game. Now that I read your article I'm even less excited. I think the idea of holding McCarthy up and getting those concession was a GREAT idea. Even if I'm not enamored or don't really know the personalities involved.

The only concession was not to pay off Trumps debt so rich guys finally get to kill Medicare/social security and crash the global economy so DeSantis gets elected president. POPULISM!

Could be. That is a narrative. However Trumps debt was appropriate except for the increase in military spending. We had a demand side problem. NOW these knuckleheads are spending in the face of inflation, causing the Fed to raise rates even more to tamp down inflation. I just wish the Left had a genuine populist caucus in the Congress. Looks to me like we have 415 Establishment members of Congress. 435 if you are right and you may well be. That is a formula for a successful Texit or some other such termination of the present order.
