One point in the law that gets overlooked or minimized is that the damage to the woman must be “irreversible”. An injury resulting in pain or disability lasting for years doesn’t count.

How in the world can the lifetime damage be assessed in the moment? Has sepsis got to be so bad that organs are irreversible damaged before and abortion can be performed? That makes treatment impossible. Gees!

It can’t. That’s the point. This is the sucker language, the fig leaf, that allows these people to pretend they’re reasonable. As Billy has said, their refusal to list specific conditions and adopt actionable protocols is what gives the game away.
