The soft-on-crime Polk sheriff's sympathetic press conference about the Doolin/Pollock family cell speaks loudly about who he considers "us" -- and who he doesn't.

1) Let me first and foremost express that I think Sheriff Grady Judd is a dangerous unchecked power that flagrantly disobeys the laws without anybody holding him accountable and I am in no way supporting him by making this statement, but
2) Grady is very aware that his deputies write reports with blatantly false information. They do so, because they assume these cases will never hit trial. I have personal knowledge and evidence of this fact and if not for doorbell camera evidence, who knows what a jury would have believed. Until we secure body cameras in this county, you should treat every press release from PCSO as speculative, at best. Even when the Sheriff says, "witnesses said x," unless you have personally seen that witness statement yourself, know that they have lied about what witnesses say to reach probable cause, only to have to drop a case months or even years later due to SAO not being able to make a case - Katelyn Roman ring a bell? Follow up with the cases after the press conference. You have written about Peter Heneen before. Did you ever follow up with that case? Also dropped. What PCSO releases is very much a skewed perception on the facts. Unique Occena? Or what about Fernando Jimenez - the man that was actually punched? There is far more to these stories that you should look in to than just, Grady-isms and "PCSO says..."

I do not know Doolin personally, but Doolin has expressly stated that his family and Judd's family are familiar/close and they have had family events together and Judd has been distancing himself from that fact since Jan. 6.

Not just towards the officer you spoke of but the entire family of the individuals you also mentioned.
