Billy, you are doing an excellent job!!

Sharpless definitely needs to find a real job!!!

I wish our school board members didn't get paid like they are, it's ridiculous for the few times they meet a year to have a salary and full benefits!! Way more than a lot of PCSB working employees!!!

Jane, I agree with most of your statements, however, we do have/had some excellent school board members. In case you don't, you should follow Lisa Miller and what she does on an almost daily basis. Sarah Fortney was one of the best, and look what's sitting her her seat now! And Billy Townsend was also in this category. The CDF'ers made it a goal to get them removed from the SB, and are making it a national goal to destroy public education right here in Florida, The "goobernator" is heading that effort, creating and signing laws that defund teachers, and schools, and creating ways to take money away from public schools and give it to private and more charter schools - (his friends who benefit from the $$$). And yes, more funds should definitely go to PCSB working employees!

Justin Sharpless does have a real job. His school board salary is an extra $40,000 gig. He works at Warner University as Chair, Assistant Professor of Agricultural Studies.

[He] graduated from the University of Missouri earning a M.S. in Agricultural Education & Leadership (2014), and is currently a PhD candidate at Mizzou.

Good! Glad he has a job and other interests, but he still needs to come to the school board meetings since he is getting paid by the taxpayers as a school board member. Two meetings a month is not much to ask! Attending a political event for another person is not an excuse for non-attendance.

Agreed. He’s trying to play a political game, make a name for himself, be a conservative mover and shaker, get that PhD for credibility. He’s playing around with people that lack integrity, so unfortunately he’s destined to lose.

I hope he puts more effort into his real job than he does in his Schol Board responsibilities.

Lately, I can't decide if I am more terrified or angry...

Be angry and share that with your friends and family, and tell them why you are angry. Make sure they are all registered to vote, will get their ballot in the mail, and then vote for the candidates who understand what must be done, and will support our teachers, our students, AND our public schools.

This a perfect and brief description of how oligarchy functions at the local level. We are so often distracted by what goes on at the top we don’t see the impact below. It’s multiple layers of taxpayer-funded grifts with people like Sharpless in the bottom layer. The ideology behind the grift is often irrelevant. Thank you for the added comments on Poly. I thought the New School grift was horrendous, but this is so bad it’s actually funny.
