Why does Ron DeSantis keep walking into Richard Corcoran's grift rake?
How on earth did Ron and Casey DeSantis let Chris Rufo give Grifter King Richard Corcoran a $784,000 golden albatross to hang around DeSantis’ presidential campaign.
Monday should have been a huge gloat day for Ron DeSantis and Chris Rufo — the completion of their mafia-style leadership “bust out” of New College.
Instead, they spent their big day silent while Grifter King Richard Corcoran made it rain with a $484,000 raise over the most recent New College president. That’s a total of $784,000 just to indoctrinate 670 students in the joys of alt-right grifting. Look at what Corcoran’s haul does to the relative per student cost of college president salaries in Florida. This is, I think, the funniest chart I’ve ever built. It tickles me.
If Polk County Schools Superintendent Fred Heid was paid “the Corc Rate” — $1,000 per student — he’d make $110 million per year. Really.
People have been non-stop laughing at DeSantis and Corcoran’s open crookedness for going on 24 hours now. An utterly humorless guy, DeSantis can’t take any laughter at his expense. And yet … he’s taking it about New College, without comment. His minions are, too.
That’s how you know whatever happened yesterday was not considered a success at DeSantis HQ. Like always, silent DeSantis speaks louder than bubble-protected trash talker DeSantis.
Corcoran has no loyalty to Big Ron. The big question is why he gets away with it.
As we already saw in Jefferson County, nobody — and I mean nobody — humiliates Ron DeSantis like Richard Corcoran. The mystery is why Casey DeSantis lets her husband keep walking into this rake.
The backstory of this New College salary fiasco, which screws everybody except Corcoran and whoever he’s buying drinks for, must be hilarious. I have so many questions:
Who came up with that number $784K number?
Did Corcoran demand it?
Who was in these talks?
Where did they happen?
Did anybody tell Casey and Ron DeSantis ahead of time?
Or did Rufo and the DeSantis board spring it on the DeSantises?
Where is Corcoran? Why won’t he answer any questions about making it rain alt-right gangster money?
Why does Corcoran wear the pants in the DeSantis/Corcoran marriage?
What constituency does Corcoran deliver to DeSantis?
Why is it worth the endless risk of scandal and disaster?
Are the lack of answers to any of those questions the reason that these inveterate trash talkers are church mice about their big win?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Laying siege to Rufo, too
Chris Rufo talks a lot of smack. But at his moment of triumph on Monday, the Boy Wonder of alt-right school grifting sat meekly and quietly. His only word was “yes,” — when he voted to hand Corcoran a $784,000 golden albatross to hang around Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign.
Rufo offered not a single word or tweet about Corcoran on the day Rufo hired him as president for the college at which he’s a trustee. I expected: “And he’s worth every dime!! What with his relentless seizing of the grift, errrr, institutions.”
Nope.
And Rufo and his fellow board grifters got a little taste of their own medicine, with the good people of the virtual crowd doing our best, better-behaved imitation of a Moms-4-Liberty swarm. A parade of public speakers mocked the so-called new “Hillsdale of the South.” Speaker after speaker pointed out this is nothing more than a gangster cash grab for a neck-deep-in-scandal failed legislator and executive leader who can’t get any other real job.
The full DeSantis New College grifter board got to silently endure 20 minutes of non-stop references to Corcoran’s endless history of corruption, incompetence, and failure for the benefit of the media and public. It’s the best exposure the Jefferson County scandal has had in a year. Multiple people hammered Corcoran and the board with it.
Here’s the meeting. The fun parts starts about 30:00 into it. You’ll see that Little Rufo was strangely docile for a dude with swords in his Twitter handle.
If these people are going to loot New College into oblivion, we might as well laugh and point at them.
Thank you for writing this insightful article. We at New College are indebted to you
Wow, it was clear the board had already made up their mind and wanted to just push the vote through. Except for one member there was no true questioning or specifics. The public was much better prepared than the board.
